Ownership
The text, page structure, calculator logic, illustrations and letter templates on tincompliance.com are original works published by TIN Comply and protected by U.S. and international copyright law. IRS forms, publications, regulations and the Internal Revenue Manual are U.S. government works; where a page quotes or cites them, the quoted government material is not ours to restrict and is identified by source. Everything else on the page, including how the material is selected, explained and arranged, is.
What you may do
Read, link to and share any page. Quote short passages, up to about two paragraphs, in your own articles, training materials, internal memos or advice to clients, provided you name the source and, online, link to the page you quoted. Use the calculators for your own or your clients' compliance work. Download the letter templates and adapt them for your own B-Notice, solicitation and penalty correspondence without limit; that is what they are for.
What you may not do
Republish a page, guide, template or calculator in whole or in substantial part on another website, in a product, or in a paid publication, whether copied directly, paraphrased closely, or produced by an automated tool. Remove or alter the source citations, review dates or TIN Comply attribution. Offer the templates or calculators for sale or as part of a service, or present them as your own work. Scrape the site to train or populate a competing content product.
How to cite
A citation like the following is sufficient in print or in a footnote. Online, the page URL should be a live link.
TIN Compliance (TIN Comply), "Page title," tincompliance.com, reviewed date shown on the page. https://www.tincompliance.com/path/
For permission to reproduce more than the allowance above, for example to include a guide in a course pack or client newsletter, write to support@tincomply.com. We say yes to most non-commercial requests.
Accuracy and reliance
Every figure is taken from the primary source named on the page and reviewed on the date shown, but the IRS changes rules, forms and amounts, and your facts may differ from the general case described. The site is general information about U.S. information-reporting requirements, not legal, tax or accounting advice, and no professional relationship is created by using it. Confirm current requirements in IRS publications or with your adviser before acting, and tell us at support@tincomply.com if something is out of date.
Calculators and templates
The calculators run entirely in your browser; nothing you type is sent to us. Results depend on the inputs you provide and on the rules in force on the review date shown. The templates are starting points that reflect the IRS model language in Publication 1281 and related sources; review them against your own facts before sending.
